The
immediate expulsion of 142 pupils from eight
Singapore Chinese schools was ordered yesterday by
the Minister for Education, Mr Chew Swee Kee. He also
directed that two teachers be sacked and seven others
warned.

Mr Chew
gave these orders to principals and management
committee representatives from 11 Chinese schools
whom he summoned to his office yesterday.
He warned
that he would not allow any of the expelled pupils or
dismissed teachers to be re-admitted to any other
Colony school.
